Mr. Barker has been a staunch advocate for employers for over 10 years.  He helps employers understand and comply with the vast-array of state, federal and local employment laws, and defends them when the need arises.  He also represents employers in connection with union relations, collective bargaining, and strike-related issues.

In addition to his employment-related experience, Mr. Barker has experience handling issues that government contractors face under the federal False Claims Act and its whistleblower provisions.

His specific experience includes:

  • Successfully defending employers accused of unlawful discrimination or harassment in federal court as well as before state, federal and local administrative agencies.

  • Representing employers in connection with a variety of union and strike-related matters, including union organizing campaigns, labor contract negotiations, grievance arbitrations, strike violence issues, secondary boycotts, and union decertification elections.

  • Counseling employers on a variety of day-to-day employment issues, including wage and hour, FMLA, and disability issues.

  • Drafting employee handbooks and employment agreements.

  • Litigating cases concerning employee non-competition agreements.
