Emily A. Gorces
Emily Gorces is a paralegal with Murphy Desmond’s immigration law practice group. Her professional experience includes working under attorney supervision on family immigration matters (family petitions, adjustment of status, I-601 hardship waivers, and consular processing) and employment-based immigration matters (H-1B visas, cap gap, 17-month STEM OPT extensions, H-1B recapture petitions, PERM, employer petitions, and employment-based adjustment of status). She also assists with VAWA (domestic violence) and U Nonimmigrant Status cases, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), F-1 and J-1 visa matters (change of status, extension of status), removal defense (cancellation of removal, prosecutorial discretion, administrative closure, and Voluntary Departure), and U.S. citizenship and naturalization.
Ms. Gorces is bilingual in English and Spanish, has an intermediate command of Portuguese, and a basic understanding of German.
In addition to assisting the immigration practice group with legal matters, Gorces coordinates the preparation of the immigration practice group's semi-monthly e-newsletter, "Immigration Updates," as well as the Facebook page for the immigration practice group.
