Lydia N. Thompson

Attorney Lydia Thompson’s background reflects a wide range of professional experiences from the legal, higher education, non-profit, and government industries where she focused on regulations, policies, and procedures. At Murphy Desmond, Lydia works on the litigation and professional licensing teams, handles collections, and assists with business law matters, including business-related contracts and review.

Earlier in her career, Lydia worked at the Wisconsin Department of Safety & Professional Services, where she served as a Prosecutor representing the state in disciplinary matters before administrative law judges and state boards and litigated disciplinary cases. She also provided legal counsel to the Department staff and 13 health and business professional state boards, which included drafting administrative rules, and assisting with credentialing/licensure and disciplinary determinations. In addition, she served victims of sexual abuse in a leadership role on the Kenosha County Sexual Assault Response Team.

Immediately following law school, Lydia served in the Dane County District Attorney’s Office as a Volunteer Special Prosecutor. Prior to receiving her law degree, Lydia served as a Judicial Extern to Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Louis B. Butler, Jr., and as a law clerk in the Office of the City Attorney in Madison, Wisconsin.

Lydia is based in Murphy Desmond's Madison office but can assist clients throughout Wisconsin.

With her love of theater, Lydia took a break in her career for a few years to move to Los Angeles, CA, where she earned a few roles on television shows, and served as a stand-in to set a scene for a main character in the Disney series “The Mandalorian.”
